2021 European Youth Cross Country Championship
Seven days under the banner of MontainBike. After a year of forced stop due to the Covid-19 emergency, the Aosta Valley is once again hosting the European Youth Cross Country Championship.
From 28 June to 3 July 2021, Pila (Aosta) becomes the ideal place to stage the third continental edition of the competition. The protagonists are the "fat wheels", for the European Championships in the Beginners and Students categories. A challenge involving over 600 athletes representing 30 nations in the suggestive Pila basin and possible thanks to the organization of the Pila Bike Planet and the support of the Regione Autonoma Valle d’Aosta, the Presidenza del Consiglio regionale and Pila S.p.a. (main sponsor) who, after having had to cancel the 2020 edition, did not lose heart to create a perfect and well-oiled machine. in full compliance with the health provisions to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. A return to normality thanks to sport, the commitment of the organizing company and the athletes who did not lose heart in this period of emergency and continued to keep very high competitive levels.
The continental review landed for the first time within the Italian borders in 2018: 500 competitors representing 19 nations participated. From year to year the organizational challenge becomes more and more difficult, but never as in this 2021 edition does it serve to give a signal to restart and to review a Valle d'Aosta assaulted by young people from all over Europe. A "Babel" of the colors and idioms of the Under 15 and Under 17 athletes, all united by the passion for fatigue on the pedals, from chewing kilometers in the cobweb of dirt roads of the European event, with the great dream of wearing the magic of a continental champion.
